NOTES:

The first single released for The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. A music video, directed by Dick Rude, was released ahead of the album.

The song was first written and demoed instrumentally by the band in late 1986 or early 1987, though a demo has not yet surfaced.

When Anthony was briefly kicked out of the Chili Peppers in early 1987, the instrumental demo was given to prospective singers to audition with. D.H. Peligro, who wound up being the band’s drummer the following year, auditioned and wrote lyrics to this track and called it “American Cheese.” He was unsuccessful, and soon Anthony returned to the band - writing the lyrics to “Fight Like a Brave” as he returned from a stay in rehab.
