Flea says he was so excited by the lyrics to this song that he would call his friends (and his mother) and recite them down the phone.

An earlier version of the song was recorded in May of 1983 during the band’s first demo session, with the band’s original lineup. There’s a good chance another demo was recorded early the next year at a different session, featuring Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez on guitar and drums.
