NOTES:
Supposedly developed during one of the first jams John and Flea ever had together, before John was even in consideration as the band’s guitar player.
In 2000, “Pretty Little Ditty” was sampled by rap-rock group Crazy Town for their song “Butterfly,” for which the full band received writing credits for. To date, it’s the only time the Chili Peppers have reached #1 in the United States. Amusingly, even though he had nothing to do with the song, Anthony was given an equal writing credit for it, meaning he earned royalties for “Butterfly” as well.
As the song was peaking in the US, the band played it live for the first time in over a decade, on March 1, 2001. Probably done to remind everyone where the riff originated.
